Abstract

Iron ooides are constituents of iron oolitic ores so called ironstones, or they appear as economically uninteresting occurrences. They are connected mostly to Devonian, Jurassic, Cretaceous and Tertiary. It is already known that in older periods there are appereances of banded iron formation but they are not the subject of our interest. The results of investigated iron ooides of Devonian (Tajmište deposit) and Jurassic age (Lias of northern part of East Serbia) are presented in this paper. Special attention is devoted to fabric and composition of ooides, their genesis and of course, the origin of iron.
